To be classified as a Tequila, a spirit must contain at least 51% agave alcohol. Anything less would be classified as Mezcal. Anything more would be considered better. Anything 100% pure would be called Pura Vida.
Pura Vida Tequila is distilled exclusively from hand-selected and hand-harvested, estate grown, 100% Blue Weber Agave which require seven to 10 years to reach full maturity.
But that's just the beginning.
Pura Vida uses a secret blend of traditional and modern production methods and water from our on-site artisan wells resulting in a tequila of the most exceptional quality and taste.
For superior smoothness and purity, Pura Vida Silver and Gold Tequilas are triple distilled, hence the term 100% pure. Triple distillation removes most, if not all, solid particles and impurities in the tequila that cause hangovers.
For our Añejo Tequila, we use only high quality, American oak Kentucky bourbon barrels for a richer flavor and taste. For the ultimate in smoothness, taste and finish, our Extra Añejo is aged in 2nd generation Cognac barrels for a minimum of two years.
Tequila aged in Cognac barrels? Yep. But that's a whole 'nother story...
